I have been puzzling over this one for too long now so I have given up and come cap in hand for some advice.
I am running Slimerver 6.5.4 (provded by the wonderful flipflip) on a Synology DS207+. All of my music (encoded as 192bit mp3, so that I can support my wifes ipod) plays fine, but for the occasional audible click, but thats for another time (I suspect its something to do with my wireless network). I have installed AlienBBC using alienbbc-linux-v1.06_6.5.tar.gz and the install looks to have gone in cleanly including the sometimes troublesome edit of the custom-config file. However, I do not get any sound. I have enabled the debug flags d_plugins, d_server, d_source, and d_stream and that seemed to shine some light on the problem (as you can see fully in the attached logfile) which appears to be that nothing is buffered as is shown below: 0408: 2008-01-16 19:48:11.1882 Matched Format: flc Type: flc Command: - 0409: 2008-01-16 19:48:11.1906 openSong: remoteURL command - type flc format flc 0410: 2008-01-16 19:48:11.1929 openSong: remoteURL stream format : flc 0411: 2008-01-16 19:48:11.3724 ee:21:f3:5a:41:c5 New play mode: play 0412: 2008-01-16 19:48:11.3861 Transporter::play - setting DigitalInput to 0 for [rtsp://rmv8.bbc.net.uk/radio4/comedy/mon1830.ra?BBC-UID=6497a80e85ef662a8dfad98f0000567cf107631fd070c0630bba5fb5606ad125_n&SSO2-UID=] 0413: 2008-01-16 19:48:11.4411 ee:21:f3:5a:41:c5: Current playmode: play 0414: 2008-01-16 19:48:11.7357 Buffering... 0 / 20480 ..skipping about 50 repeated lines 0469: 2008-01-16 19:48:20.2641 Buffering... 0 / 20480 0470: 2008-01-16 19:48:20.3938 Read to end of file or pipe 0471: 2008-01-16 19:48:20.3967 end of file or error on socket, opening next song, (song pos: 8333(tell says: . 0), totalbytes: ) 0472: 2008-01-16 19:48:20.3991 opening next song... This gave me an idea that something was wrong, so I next tried to run the mplayer-stdout command directly from the command line , whilst removing the redirection of the error pipe to /dev/null, and got the following output: "/volume1/SSODS/bin/mplayer-stdout" -really-quiet -vc null -vo null -ban dwidth 10000000 -cache 128 -af valume=0,resample=44100:0:1,channels=2 -ao pcm:no waveheader:file=- "rtsp://rmv8.bbc.net.uk/radio4/comedy/mon1830.ra?BBC-UID=6497a 80e85ef662a8dfad98f0000567cf107631fd070c0630bba5fb5606ad125_n&SSO2-UID=" | "/vol ume1/SSODS/bin/flac" -cs --endian=little --channels=2 --sign=signed --bps=16 --s ample-rate=44100 --compression-level-0 - - with the result.. fLaC"♦Ç♦Ç ─B*♦( reference libFLAC 1.1.4 20070213ü -: ERROR: got partial sample Does this indicate something wrong with the flac encoder?
