The socketwrapper issue was only relevant to XP security s/w. 

People have had general SC problems with ZA but I believe latest
version of ZA has sorted some of these out.  For security s/w usually
disabling it is not enough to clear problems - uninstall is the only
sure way to check if the security s/ is to blame.

All the previous advice regarding NOD and ZA have been XP specific and
I wonder if they are still applicable to Vista versions.

If you feel you are up to a bit of debugging and to get some definitive
answer as to why Alien is not working. Run SC from a command prompt
window with player.source logging set to Debug will give lots of extra
information and will get socketwrapper to produce some additional info.
The command window should be set to about 300 chars wide by 2000 lines
deep to ensure some logging message are not lost.
