It sounds like the LastFM tagger is being clever and splitting your tags. I believe it's possible to configure SqueezeCentre to do the same, although I'm not sure that the end result in SqueezeScrobbler would be quite correct yet. I am working on a very similar issue relating to splitting Artist names right now and will check the genre behaviour as well.
