Safari is good, but it doesn't support full screen or kiosk mode! I use the scroll bar on the right to scroll(touch pen, if you mean the medium)! The settings thing doesn't bother me at all, as long as everything else works fine... Do you think you can do anything to make it compatible with Opera to take advantage of the scaling capability?
