I wasn't aware that MPlayer had enough native support for RealAudio to
play the BBC streams. If that's the case then you wouldn't need the
Real codecs.

As for the /dev/fd stuff, I have /dev/fd on my distribution (Debian
etch), it's just that for some reason the way it's used in mplayer.sh
doesn't work and MPlayer complains that it can't open the output
device.

I tried various combinations of things and eventually figured out a way
to make it work using named pipes (mkfifo) and "cat".
