The patches in the post were for an mploayer build around March 2007. This is after pre8 and RC1 and before RC2. So I believe none of those builds will work with the patches unmodified.
Either you checkout a build of mplayer around Mar-May 2007 or you find out what has changed in mplayer between rc1 and rc2 and modify the patches accordingly.
