It just happened to me again this morning.  My 8am Weekend timer didn't
fire.

It looks like the scheduler updates you were referring to don't run
every night on my machine.  I only see an instance of it on June 10th.

I'm running on a Fedora 8 box which does not shut down SC every night. 
Actually, if it did restart it every night, it would probably work
better since it only gets in this state after running for a few days.
