Thanks for the useful info regarding the possibilities. Actually I've just checked something I should have checked earlier.
I've brought the SB3 unit downstairs so that it is beside my main (Netopia 2247WG/eircom wireless) router. I'm getting no problems with stuttering in this room so I am suspecting its a wifi issue and not specifically Alien at all. I'm using a Belkin wireless repeater upstairs to boost the signal so that I can receive in the upstairs bedroom (where I observed the stutter .. fast stutter.. ie. tendency for repeated words, sometimes almost a slowdown effect ... also the now playing timer not incrementing uniformly) I'm going to experiment with changing wifi channel numbers for the router. My house is wired with cat5e but I've just not got around to terminating the cables.
