I don't think the problem is the unzip tool if you are using Windows XP. Are you sure you are unzipping it to the correct directory ?
If you goto "SqueezeCenter Settings/Status", what does the "Plugin Folders" parameter say ? Have you removed any previous plugin directory before you unzip the new versions ?
