Thanks for this SGG. I managed to set up the stuff this morning (a reboot of my PC found added the missing Staff Picks item to SlimCenter) and have been listening to the WMA streamed Radio4 since then.... and nary a hickup!!
So far. gant. I'd try the WMA streams then. However (and I have Triodes latest zip installed), I can't find the Afternoon Play listed anywhere at all on the AlienBBC Listen Again menus (a search does not find it either). All the items in the Radio 4 A-Z menus don't appear to work either. I can't see an iPlayer Menu item anymore (but maybe it's not supposed to be there now). The sun has come out and I am in a considerably better mood.
