Rather than adding this to the 1000+ existing posts in the SDT announce thread, I thought I'd separate this out into its own thread. When we get the answer, hopefully it will be easier for others to find than scanning that monster thread... and so:
I'm running SDT in conjunction with the RSS feed reader under SaverSwitcher, as my "off" screensaver. I'm using SDT purely as a replacement for WeatherTime, which interacts badly with SaverSwitcher. Since I like the display from WeatherTime, I'm trying to set up SDT to look approximately the same. My Time/Weather format string is therefore set to: ICON ON, 3 LINE SECTION ON (line1: "Now %F" line2: "%Z" line3: "PRECIP %x") and the remaining "large" 2 lines are set to line1: "%y %v" line2: "%1 %2". The problem? No matter what I do (and over the last 2 or 3 days I've tried a lot) I cannot get SDT to use anything other than long formats for the time and date, which means that its too long for the display, and needs to be scrolled, which means it scolls right over the top of the icon and 3-line section. There seems to be no way to change those formats in the SDT preferences. Changing them in the DateTime screensaver preferences seemed to do nothing either. The only way I can get it to work is to make my Squeezecenter general preferences for the long date be a very short date indeed, which necessitates editing the server.prefs file by hand, to set the date and time formats to values that are not provided by the standard web configuration interface.
