This is a slightly odd one, and it's taken me a few months to work out
what's going on. However, I don't actually know how to fix this, but I
think I can see why the problem exists.

First off, I'm running SqueezeCenter 7.2, on a Linux system, and
AlienBBC is working (almost) as it should.

Generally, I'm sat in front of a computer working, so I use 'xmms' to
play music on the machine, via the SqueezeCenter. I've hacked RTSP.pm
from the AlienBBC distribution to disable the 'only stream to known
slim clients' check, so that I can listen to the radio while I work.

I generally have Radio 2 playing in the background, and after somewhere
between 65 and 75 minutes, the playback stops. I have to re-start from
the squeezecenter to get it to continue. There seemed to be no definite
time at which the music stops.

The reason for the stopped music, after probably a year of trying to
work out, is that it appears to be some kind of drift. When I start
both xmms and the Radio2 stream, there's a difference of around 4
seconds between the play time displayed in the web interface, and that
in xmms.

After around 20 minutes, that difference has grown to around 30 seconds
(i.e. the time reported in SqueezeCenter is 30 seconds ahead of the
playback time reported from xmms).

So my best quess is that around 65-75 minutes, that drift has reached
the point that mplayer has run out of buffer to write the converted
stream, and hence it stops, and some short time later, so does xmms.
Once I restart it, everything is fine again for just over an hour, and
so on...

The problem started to occur when I upgraded to version 7 of
SlimServer/SqueezeCenter. Prior to this, in version(s) 6.5.x, I was
running the same xmms playback with AlienBBC with no issues.

Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to fix this?

Regards,

Wayne
