I don't think you can do what you want with playlists, but what about putting a custom tag in the comment, then you can set up a custom browse menu to browse that subset of files by artist/album/songs/whatever. I do this with a custom comment tag "Russ_Lib" for browsing only my husbands's music. Just make sure your custom comment tag is something unique.
