now have a great set up.

Music files ripped to flac on pc, squeezebox hard wired ethernet
connection to moon audio amp and sonus faber speakers. Sounds brilliant
(dacmagic to follow). Set a batch file up that converts three
squeezecentre HTML address's (Now playing, Album review and
Biography)to jpeg on rotation. This jpeg file is accesed by Imate
momento. So as music is played on squeezebox (controlled by laptop in
living room, which uses the squeezecentre to control the remote PC music
files), the Now playing screen, Album review and biography are played in
sequence, refreshed every ten seconds (can be set longer), looks
cool!!!

So once i have my IPod Touch from Santa i can forgo the laptop in
living room (toyed with the idea of one of the mini laptops, but got a
good deal on a Touch but am not allowed to have it till Xmas) i will
have a very good and cool setup and at a bargain price too.

£99 squeezebox receiver,
£50 Imate Momento (this is an ace device, so many uses ; framechannel
is brilliant)
£190 32Gb ipod touch

So impressed with the sound from the Squeezebox as previously i was
using three Phillips devices (the little SLA 5200) through the house
using mp3/wma on a Buffalo homeserver but not good enough quality when
used in main listening room. The sound is so good i wonder how much
better it will be through the dacmagic.

interestingly the new moon cd3.3 player has a seperate input to use its
built in Dac and the new moon ampi3.3 has the option for a built in dac
, phono input and balanced inputs.

The Next Squeezebox development should be the ability to handle the
Master Flac files and then it would really wipe the floor of the
competion.

Ps audio are about to launch a cd player that rips the music to flac
using EAC and replays the music from memory rather than from the disc,
nice but expensive.
