My guess is there is some hidden difference between the message and search string. The test works for a Windows and Suse system. I haven't tested on Ubuntu.
This could be dependent on the build of cdd2wav. Where did you get your cdd2wav ? What version is it ? I didn't do a timeout because I found on some Linux systems - killing cdda2wav when it is prompting hung the Linux system as it left a process stuck in device driver.
