Well, it's me again. Inspired by the success of reinstalling version 12, I made another effort to reinstall 13.0.93 as well, and now everything works perfectly. I just thought you deserved to know. I don't know what happened, most likely an unsuccessful install in the first place, I suppose. Anyway, thanks for your willingness to help and patience through all this.
