I'm only guessing here, but it's my understanding that SoftSqueeze is not compatible with 7.3.1. I was told by a support representative that you have to switch to the new SqueezePlayer applet that comes with 7.3.1 if you want to use software-based players. I'm merely quoting what I was told, YMMV.
