I think you may have a different problem. Can you increase a timer - in WebUI Settings/Advanced/Network/Radio Station Timeout - change to 20 secs.
For purposes of debugging - please do the same action every time. Please just use Radio4 for testing. You said AlienBBC works when you choose a station from the WebUI but not from the Boom using the Boom controls/remote. Is that correct ? >From WebUI try Internet Radio/AlienBBC/BBC Live streams/Radio 4 Live - click "play" icon. >From Boom. Internet Radio/AlienBBC/BBC Live Streams/Radio 4 Live - press Boom play button. In cases where is doesn't work - what do you see ? Do you see a "Connecting" message ? Do you see a "Buffering" message ?
