Hi guys - sorry to open this "can of worms". I've tried one or two of the solutions based on lm-sensors, phpsysinfo, etc etc
I haven't yet succeeded in anything and with my level of expertise I'm not likely to do so. My initial purpose in raising this was just to add some value to the remote management of servers but I do understand that there are a great many variables in any potential solution and just as many interpretations to any data that is presented. So I'll bow out of the discussion but if anything does emerge I'll be a grateful recipient.
