The problem I had on my XP system was fixed by updating some DLLs so it is not your problem. So I am still looking.
The audio problem could be caused by some security s/w blocking socketwrapper.exe. Do you use AlienBBC ? If AlienBBC works on your systems then it means socketwrapper is not being blocked.
