It requires changes to the SugarCube plugin.
SugarCube currently only offers a playlist to Dynamic Playlist plugin
that doesn't take parameters. It would be possible to change it so it
besides this also offers a number of additional playlists, one that
takes an artist as parameter, one that takes an album as parameter, one
that takes a track as parameter, one that takes a genre as parameter.
This would make it appear in the list when you launch the Dynamic
Playlist mixer from a artist, album, genre or track.

I could provide a patch for this but I'm not sure it's a good idea. The
problem is that the Dynamic Playlist integration in the SugarCube plugin
already today has a tendency to break in new SugarCube releases. The
problem is that the implementation is very different to how the
standalone SugarCube playlist works. The problem with this is that I've
got the feeling that the testing process of new SugarCube releases are
focused on testing the new features with the standalone version. If the
integration with Dynamic Playlist gets more tightly the risk of breaking
things when making new releases gets even higher than today.

I sometimes wonder if it would be preferred to split SugarCube into two
plugins, one that is designed for standalone usage and one that is
designed for usage with Dynamic Playlist. Some features are needed in
both versions but there are also a couple of features that only are
relevant when it's used standalone.

That's a bug in SugarCube or a limitation in Dynamic Playlist, take
your pick. The problem is that Dynamic Playlist only makes it possible
for playlist plugins (like SugarCube) to offer a single settings url, it
can't be skin dependent. I think the current url works in all web skins
besides the "Default" skin, I know it works in the Classic skin which
I'm using myself.

The solutions available are:
- Don't link the SugarCube playlist to the settings at all
- Accept that it doesn't work in the Default skin
- Provide a special settings page inside the SugarCube plugin which has
its own Apply button.

Unfortunately none of these solutions are really good.

By the way, the SQL Playlist isn't involved at all when you use the
Sugar Cube dynamic playlist.
