That happens when you hold an item on the iPhone/iTouch start screen
("Springboard") for a second or so. While it jiggles, you can move the
icon around to rearrange them. If you press the "x", the App gets
uninstalled - this is no problem since you can always re-install it from
the App Store at no cost but you will lose settings.
You get out of that mode by pressing the button on the front of you

It's under "Help". Press one of the help page links and once Safari
comes up, click on the entry field at the top and enter
"forums.slimdevices.com" :-)
