Auto Display needs some minor changes to allow you to change the dim time via CLI (you can change the preference with the CLI, but Auto Display currently won't re-assess its "next run" schedule in response to a preference change via CLI). Have you looked at Gordon Harris' SvrPowerControl plugin (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=48521)?
