Just to update everyone on this I have been in touch with the BBC about this change, but I've yet to get a meaningful reply. At the moment, I'm still at the "This is how you use iPlayer" stage with its iPlayer tech support people, but I'll keep plugging away until I get through to someone that can understand the problem.
If anyone else has any ideas in the meantime... AlienBBC does list Danny Baker (in my example) under Home > Alien BBC > BBC Local Radio > BBC London > Danny Baker - Mon, 07 Sep 2009 & Danny Baker - other episodes, but these are unique daily show links that can't be used to play "last Friday's" show, regardless of which week it is.
