Lately I've been having lots of trouble with AlienBBC and BBC iPlayer again - constant rebuffering or no sound at all even though the controller indicates that the program is playing. If I reset my router, the programs start playing normally for a short while, but then the problems start again.
It doesn't seem to matter what ports I open - it will play even without any port forwarding, so long as the router is reset.
