I have double blind testing with the ABTester and the results are:
- I can hear the difference between mp3 32 and mp3 128 :)
- I Can hear the difference between mp3 128 and flac 24/48 :)
- I can hear the difference between mp3 128 and mp3 320
- I can *not* hear the difference between mp3 VBR 256 and mp3 320
- I can *not* hear the difference between mp3 320 and Flac
- I can *not* hear the difference between Flac 16/44 and Flac 28/44
Conclusion: My ears and or equipment in combination with the music do
not need HD music files (flac 24/48; flac 24/96)
I will use Flac 16/44 (=normal Cd; Redbook)instead of mp3 320. However
the reason is only theoretical (loosless means no lost).
For the results (ABX, Probability of Experiment Being the Same as
Random Guesses) you can use:
http://ff123.net/abx/abx.html

Ps
1) I have made 15 trials for each Abx test (= maximum for your ears)
2) In Foobar ABx is it possible to switch between the formats and go
"further on the same timeline". The Squeezebox ABXtest starts, when you
switch, always from the beginning of the track. *Maybe someone can make
this possible ???????*
3) You cannot extrapolate these results to yourself. You have different
ears/equipment/music etc.
