Good to hear this fixes it. Can you post a link to where you are disucssing it on the QNAPs forums. If they can't fix quickly it would be possible to include the fix into the main iPlayer plugin with some code to use it when installed on a problem system. So really looking for any views on how fast they will fix it and whether this will be useful.
