First - I'll add the option, so no panic. But some thoughts: 1. I find the accidental destroying of playlists interesting, actually, in this case it never occurred to me. I don't do a lot of playlists but I'm also pretty sure I never ever accidentally hit a cover. May be because I usually use my iPod two-handed and when I use it single-handed, it's with the left hand (making it almost impossible for me to hit the cover at all). But I also tend to believe it's probably a thing between knowing and not knowing what will happen. 2. This may sound harsh, but new users don't count for me. I've said this before on issues such as pop-up choices, the "swipe" subpages on NowPlaying, the "modes" and a lot of options: I AM willing to compromise immediate obviousness for long-term efficiency of the UI. My ultimate goal with the iPeng UI is that if you use it a lot over a long time it has to be the most efficient way to handle the task of operating a Squeezebox that I can come up with. People have a brain to learn and usually are pretty good at that and I _HATE_ UIs that unnerve me with dialogs and things that help new users to not have to understand how things work but keep being in your way over and over again when you use the thing. iPeng is NOT made for one-time use but for long-term frequent use. I find it interesting that Luke (the author of Squeemote) recently posted that he came to a similar conclusion WRT pop-ups, which Squeemote currently has and he's obviously removing for the next release because they were too unnerving over time. On the use case, the opinion looks split, if I look at the poll. May be a similar case as for the "Play Shuffled" option, which a lot of long-term Squeezebox owners simply don't seem to understand (since Squeezebox doesn't have it that way and Squeezebox didn't have "play other tracks in album" as a default in the past - it is now). That option works EXACTLY the same way as in Apple's own iPod App making it very simple and obvious for iPhone a dn iTouch users but obviously there is a significant number of iPeng users who simply do not use that. -- pippin --- see iPeng, the Squeezebox iPhone remote, at penguinlovesmusic.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------ pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73237 _______________________________________________ plugins mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
