Ah, so then "Validation" is the overall process, of which "analysis" as
a part.  Firstly, check if the track is in the on-line DB, if so, put
that info in the local cache file.  If not in the on-line DB, move to
the second part ("analysis"), and create the finger print information to
put in the local cache file.

This would mean that when I have been clicking "Validate" in the web
interface, the MIP server has been doing the first part - looking in the
online DB to find the finger print info for the new music.   As most of
my music is pretty mainstream, and is in the online DB, most of the
time, this is sufficient for building the local MIP cache.  It would
explain why a small number of tracks I have won't appear mixable, even
after validation - they are not in the online DB, and as I'm not doing
the analysis which would happen if using the MIP application (or
GenPUID), the fingerprint information is not generated.
