Well they can't really veto third party plugins to an open source server. The plugin is from Gwendesign, but I think that is Felix who is now an employee of Slim / Logitech. Again the plug in is open source licensed.
Logitech could stop it by removing the 'Geekport' feature in the Squeezefirmware which I think is used for the IRBlaster, but I doubt they would.
