Running your latest update (posted here), last night I rather quickly
got the continuous "*" and no further updates, even after pressing "+".

I hope that's helpful... you're sure you dont' want to try the XML
feed?  While I understand the above doesn't have anything to do with the
parsing, it's entirely likely they have the servers that provide the XML
feed differently provisioned from the ones that provide the web pages. 
Just a thought...
