Hey guys back to the legal issue. First, of all, lyrdb offers their user provided content for educational purposes only. One might argue that's not ridding the provider of additional measures to enforce this limitation. However that's their problem.
Secondly, they allow access to this data via a web-browser interface and some other http-interface. So consequently, in order to avoid any kind of legal infringement Apple would need to ban this site from the browser too. One could argue that a browser's purpose is not mainly for lyrics and can hence not be held responsible for somebody misusing it for copyrighted material. So the same should hold for any application: If I wrote a webbrowser, would Apple ban it for fear of it allowing to view copyrighted material? Probably not. I think it cannot be generally decided whether this feature is legal or not. It depends on its impact on somebody elses rights. And I don't see how a niche product like an SB remote controll can affect the revenues of music companies. -- Locuth Use your PDA/Phone as SqueezeBox remote -- http://sc.sciatec.de ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Locuth's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=29693 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=42990 _______________________________________________ plugins mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
