I decided to give 7.6 a try. I've installed 7.6.0 r-30733 on a Mac OS 10.6.3. I have a very large music library-- over 111,000 tracks. Custom Scan took 13 hours to run compared to 8 hours on the last version of 7.4 that I'd been using. I tried the Artists built-in Custom Browse menu and found it very slow to respond. When I click on an album to play, it takes about 4-5 minutes before the first track starts to play.
The regular SBS scan works fine-- now takes only 40 minutes for a full rescan compared to 2 hours before. And the regular SBS menus respond quickly.
