And as far as I know the Server currently doesn't know what > type of device is talking to it when asking for menus. > I don't think this is what this option does. I mean: it's purely a Squeezeplay parameter used in menu mode queries. I have no idea what it does but context menus DO work without it, iPeng uses the context menus. > > Also from the SqueezePlay-side I can't think of a change, when they > just send 'useContextMenu' for certain menus. > Actually that's the current behavior, I believe, from the menu side. As it is now, most menus provided by the server itself contain the parameter in the actions/params, so e.g. iPeng will send it as well. IN ADDITION to this, current SP devices ALWAYS add this parameter even if it's NOT in the menu definition. This is what's different in iPeng and what Triode uses to distinguish between iPeng and SP. iPeng does not do this since I have no idea what it does and I didn't find cases in which I would have needed it since SP sends the parameter anyway. > > As they can't distinguish certain types of menus how could they omit > this flag ? It also wouldn't make sense that the client decides that it > doesn't want context menus on certain types of menu ? > They can set it in the menu (as it would be supposed to be if you look at the documentation). Plus: context menus seem to work without it ...
