And it should be noted that configuring alarms via iPeng is not the most
robust thing one should do if one wants failsafe alarms.

That has nothing to do with iPeng - just that configuring the alarm
somewhere else than on the actual device (which could have lost
connection to the server and doesn't get the new alarm schedule to
setup the fallback alarm) I consider very dangerous. (And wasn't jmpage
one with severe alarms troubles some months ago ?).

So maybe its even good that this feature doesn't work (and it should
possibly be disabled altogether to protect the userbase). Good
sideeffect for the developer: the alarm menus are the most complicated
SqueezePlay beasts (I think) - they don't even refresh properly on the
real devices ;)
