This usually occurs when Spotify/the internet is very busy. I think there were more users than normal on Spotify last night which was probably the cause - is it working now? Please try it for longer as a test on New Year's eve may not be representative. I am looking at how to prefetch tracks in a playlist to reduce this, but the underlying problem is likely to be congestion on spotify servers.
