Ok. I/we've done it. Spotify said "You have an active Spotify Premium subscription" so that gave me hope.
JackofAll said "If you're using the 3rd party (Triode) plugin then I suggest you enable debug logging for the helper app (spotifyd) and post to the Announce thread, where the plugin is supported by Triode". So I had a looked up the app in Squeezeserver Settings and saw an Settings option for the plugin. Clicked it. I then had to tick a box that said I was happy to use spotify core or something. I did. That wasn't enough. What finally helped, though, was selecting "Always Stream via Helper". It apparently disables the same firmware function in the Squeezebox. I guess they were competing with each other or something. So that's excellent. Thanks for all the help.
