I (almost) give up! I have installed SSODS 4.9.1 and the latest Squeezebox Server 7.5.2 as described by Sakkerju on http://forum.synology.com/enu/viewtopic.php?f=131&t=23430&start=30#p127978
Everything works perfect exept that Triode's Spotify plugin gives the same time out error message, and the helper app is not running either :-( I have even tried with SBS 7.5.3 in different versions (NoCPAN, CPAN, PowerPc etc.) but with the same bad results!
