1) As already discussed in this thread: No. This would need server side
changes because anything else would lead to unpredictable behavior when
you actually play a track. In extreme cases it could play your whole
library.
I will have to experiment a bit on whether I can at least change this
in a future release for current or upcoming server versions (there have
been changes since it was initially designed) but this requires a
complete redesign of the whole music folder code.

2) Also discussed a lot. Yes, it's intentional and goes along with the
"keep active" setting. It may be worth getting it's own setting since
this became so much worse due to the insensitivity of the camera as a
proximity sensor (iPhone 3G/S was much better here).
