I am a new member so please excuse me if I am posting this message in
the wrong area.

I am running the latest official version of Squeezebox server on a DIY
Vortexbox NAS. So far, everything us working very well. One of the
experts on the Vortexbox forum directed me here for my question about
the Server Power Control plug in. My goal is to find a way to shut down
my server overnight to make it a little more "green." Upon the
recommendation of the Vortexbox expert, I installed the Server Power
Control plug in (the latest version). I followed the instructions to
test the process via entering the appropriate text in the command line.
(Unfortunately, I know nothing about Linux but at least know how to
access the server command prompt via Putty. From there, it's a matter
of cutting and pasting the correct text.) The test was a success so I
assume that I am good to go. At the moment Server Power Control is
programmed to shut things down at 12:30AM via the "end of the day"
option and restart at 8:30AM by the alarm trigger.

I have two questions:

First, is it possible to control the shut down process by day of the
week? Ideally, I would like to leave my server running for one
overnight period every week so it is available as a repository for my
automated PC backups, etc. If this is possible via a special command
line prompt, what would be the exact text I would have to enter to
leave the server on for the Monday the 12:30AM - 8:30AM period but
still shut down for all other overnight periods?

My next question...and I apologize for its very basic nature. By
stipulating the end of day shut down option, I am eliminating the
possibility that the server can wake itself up in the morning? Is
waking up the server only possible by turning on the power switch?
Would putting the server in hibernation overnight be a better option?

My compliments to the creator of Server Power Control. It is a very
useful plug in and much appreciated.

Thanks.
Chuck
