It's a timing issue. It can happen infrequently.

The iPod 4 has a more brilliant display. Apart from that I find the 3G
to be fine, too (Note: I don't actually know iPod touch 4G, only iPhone
4).

The display on iPhone 4 is really brilliant but it didn't grow, so it
doesn't really make sense to display more content just because there is
more resolution, would only hurt your eyes :)
