I found that just manually editing the par file wasn't enough, since even after a restart it seemed like the changes weren't being picked up. I then had to manually delete the par temp/cache files; once I'd done that, one more restart caused it to pick up the edited par file and SDT started working again. (On Windows 7 it's under C:\users\XXX\appdata\local\temp\par-XXX -- something like that, where XXX is your user name. With the server stopped, just delete everything in that directory.)
