I guess this could mean that:
- MusicIP will soon no longer be available for download
and
- The company that has bought the intellectual property probably have
plans to use something interesting with the technology.
As already mentioned, the EchoNest announcement is interesting from a
fingerprint perspective since it means we can auto detect Musicbrainz
data, but they probably don't have any plans to handle the
mixing/similarity aspects of MusicIP.
