MP4A and AAC use the same audio encoding - just AAC stream have a
simple header whereas MP4A files usually use a MPEG4 header.  To play
the MP4A file on an SB3 - faad is used so the problem seems to be
network related not faad related.

Can you play WMA streams if WebUI Settings File Types / Windows Media -
"native" is disabled - this will force streaming and transcoding by SBS.
