I'm having exactly the same problem too, though I'm running an older version of squeezeboxserver - see my sig below. Nothing in the logs - I checked last night. So far Spotify is a nonstarter for me since the only place I can use it is on my computer :-(. Even the official plugin on my Touch won't work.
