Let's finish 7.7 with its UPnP support first, after that I'm pretty
sure we can build some more advanced third party plugins on top of the
image database provided in 7.7.
I'm very interested in some kind of photo server with better
categorization/browsing features than just browsing by folder. I
suspect I'd even be willing to give up the categorization I currently
do in Aperture and instead use categorization offered through a photo
server, the best would of course be if the photo server could integrate
with Aperture.
I'd like to be able to use the photo server as source for things like:
- A public web page exposing part of my photos
- When browsing my photos on my iPad
- When browsing my photos on my media center (MythTV in my case)
So, there are more people interested to put some effort into realizing
something better than we have today, if Michael doesn't want to do it
all, but I think we should finish 7.7 first because that will scan all
your photos and put a reference to them in the 7.7 database. It will be
a lot easier to build enhance functionality when we have a real database
storage.
