Can you explain where you are and whether you are trying to use a
proxy?  The proxy timeout message seems to indicate you have some form
of proxy?

In general I would expect the wma streams to be most reliable, but aac
streams are slightly better quality.  If you are in the UK then you
should be able to set the aac options and deselect the "prefer wma" as
the most reliable option.  In all case this would normally cause
streaming direct from the BBC server to the player.  However if you
have a proxy in the way then this is likely to cause a problem.
