I believe there is already a ticket for this, I'll have to have a look at it.
IIRC, it's not comppletely simple. The main problem is that if the iPhone hasn't been in use for a while it's usually not connected to WiFi and the server and I believe it's not going to connect these connections before iPeng has to go to the background.
