That error message suggests the helper app was not running - this is
likely if the log file can't be created.  This does look to be a
permissions issue - the user squeezebox server runs as should be able
to write to that location.  Its difficult to debug remotely.  Have you
tried a remove and reinstall of the server code with the machine being
rebooted before you reinstall?
