I have already several times uninstalled v2.1.0 and completely removed all leftover folders and files, and then manually installed v2.0.4 - and vice versa (removed 2.0.4 and installed 2.1.0).
Helper app runs with both versions, but none of the versions will connect to "ap.spotify.com" (the log is more or less identical for the two versions).
